Swedens main public broadcaster apologized for an article that tied President Donald Trumps recognition of Jerusalem as Israels capital to the strength of the Jewish Lobby.

In a broadcast Wednesday immediately following Trumps address about Jerusalem, the broadcaster SVT asserted that the Jewish Lobby in the US is incredibly strong, and said the lobby has championed this issue for a long time.

It was an unfortunate choice of words that immediately was corrected by our senior news commentator, Charlotta Friborg, executive editor and publisher SVT News, told JTA in an email.

Viewers had complained online that the assertion promoted anti-Semitic stereotypes about Jewish control over US foreign policy.

Separately, leaders of Dutch Jewry complained about their state broadcasters editorial choices in covering an assault on a kosher restaurant.

The NOS broadcaster placed a picture of Jerusalem on its website accompanying its report about the attack, in which a 29-year-old man waving a Palestinian flag smashed multiple windows of the HaCarmel restaurant in southern Amsterdam on Thursday.

NOS accompanied the article with a photo of the Israeli and American flags projected on the wall of the Old City of Jerusalem but removed the picture following complaints.

There were plenty of images from the anti-Semitic attack, which was filmed in its entirety, tweeted Paul van der Bas, the chairman of the CIJO youth organization of the Hague-based Center for Information and Documentation on Israel, or CIDI. But NOS uses a photo of Jerusalem. Why so suggestive?

The criticism of NOS over the Jerusalem image follows earlier rebukes of the broadcaster by CIDI over its use of a picture showing a dead Syrian child in an article about an air strike on a military target in Syria last week that international media attributed to Israel.

NOS removed the picture following a protest by CIDI, which on Tuesday wrote on Twitter: Fake News at NOS. A photo of a wounded/slain child in an article [about an incident] without civilian casualties.

On Nov. 9, during a speech about the Kristallnacht pogroms of 1938, Ron van der Wieken, the director of the Central Jewish Organization on the Netherlands, accused some Dutch media, which he did not name, of mobilizing support for terrorist groups that seek Israels physical destruction.

The ceaseless Israel-bashing that goes on in some Dutch media, as well as one national quality newspaper, is so persistent, so one-sided and selective that it must draw from a basic enmity to the idea of a national Jewish home, he said.

Earlier this year, Israel refused on technical terms to extend the work permit of a reporter for NRC Handelsblad, a newspaper with national distribution that is considered a quality publication.

In January, the newspaper refused to correct an assertion in one of its articles that said almost all the Arabs were driven out of Haifa in 1948, the year of Israels independence, despite testimonies that they left despite pleas for them to stay by the mayor.

In 2016, an article by the same reporter about Hebron said Israeli soldiers shot dead five Palestinians in the city without mentioning the Israeli armys claims that the Palestinians in question were shot while trying to stab Israelis. NRC has refused requests for a correction.

Prince Charles decried White House refusal to take on …

Thirty years ago, Prince Charles said that U.S. support for Israel is a cause of terrorism and that the Jewish lobby tied an American presidents ability to address the issue. He wrote in a 1986 letter:

I now begin to understand better their [Arabs] point of view about Israel. Never realized they see it as a US colony.

I know there are so many complex issues, but how can there ever be an end to terrorism unless the causes are eliminated?

Surely some US president has to have the courage to stand up and take on the Jewish lobby in US? I must be naive, I suppose!

The Mail on Sunday broke the story, saying it obtained the letter from a public archive. Charles was 38, had just visited the Persian Gulf, and was writing to a mentor, the South African-born writer Laurens van der Post, then nearly 80.

The letter is causing a stink in Britain and Israel, with the Times of Israel accusing the Prince of employing anti-Semitic tropes about Jewish wealth and influence. Another source of controversy is the Princes view that the immigration of foreign Jews had worsened the conflict.

I now appreciate that Arabs and Jews were all a Semitic people originally and it is the influx of foreign, European Jews (especially from Poland, they say) which has helped to cause great problems.

A 1986 letter written by Prince Charles to his friend Laurens van der Post. (published by The Mail on Sunday)

The Mail says that Prince Charles has very good relations with the Jewish community but is widely thought to hold unorthodox views of the Middle East. A Jewish editor describes the letter as anti-Semitic for its treatment of Jewish influence.

Last night, Stephen Pollard, influential editor of The Jewish Chronicle, said: To me this is the most astonishing element of the Princes letter. The Jewish lobby is one of the anti-Semitic themes that have endured for centuries. It is this myth there are these very powerful Jews who control foreign policy or the media or banks or whatever.

No doubt Jewish power is mythologized, but Zionist influence is a leading factor in the creation and preservation of Israel, beginning with the issuance of the Balfour Declaration 100 years ago. The U.S. press wont ever talk about the lobbys role, because its too much of a living reality in our public life. The lead negotiator for the U.S. government during the peace process years, Dennis Ross, has saidin a synagogue talk that American Jews must be advocates for Israel, not for Palestinians. A Time Warner executive has written speeches for Benjamin Netanyahu with no one saying boo about it. An executive at Comcast, the largest media company, has held fundraisers for the Israeli army. The head of Emilys List has said that Democratic congressional candidates must take a position on Israel from the lobby group AIPAC, in order to raise essential campaign funds from the Jewish community.

Jewish lobby is surely a misnomer for Zionist lobby; but its not as if many Zionists have not used the term themselves. Alan Dershowitz used the term Jewish lobby approvingly in his book Chutzpah. Earlier this year he told a Scarsdale synagogue that American Jews are entitled to our power because of our wealth, and we need to deploy it to support Israel.

Anyone that [divests from Israel] has to be treated with economic consequences. We have to hit them in the pocketbook. Dont ever ever be embarrassed about using Jewish power. Jewish power, whether it be intellectual, academic, economic, political in the interest of justice is the right thing to do.

People write a book called the Israel lobby and complain that AIPAC is one of the most powerful lobbies in Washington. My response to that is, thats not good enough. We should be the most powerful lobby in Washington.

We are entitled to use our power. We have contributed disproportionately to the success of this country. We have done so much for this country. When you think of how much better this country has become since our grandparents and great grandparents took the risk of coming, here, we have not only the right we have the obligation to speak out, and use every piece, every bit of power available in support of Israel.

We could go on and on with instances of American experts who support the princes view to one degree or another. NYT columnist Tom Friedman has said that the U.S. Congress is bought and paid for by the Israel lobby. Last year Cornel West said that the Democratic National Committee has been beholden for a long time to AIPAC. The DNC lately purged James Zogby from its executive committee.

George H.W. Bush did take on the Israel lobby three years after Prince Charless complaint, in 1991, over settlements. He was a one-term president and some attribute Bushs loss in part to his daring. Bill Clinton ran to President Bushs right on the settlements issue, and moved into the White House.

Lets see how much pickup this letter gets in the U.S. I bet very little. Too uncomfortable-making. And a one-off.

The Israeli press says no royal has visited Israel on an official visit since 1948. Despite numerous invitations over the years, no UK government has approved such a visit to Israel since the end of the British Mandate and the establishment of the state in 1948.

The Mail quotes a spokesperson for the royal family explaining the letter:

He was sharing the arguments in private correspondence with a long-standing friend in an attempt to improve his understanding of what he has always recognized is a deeply complex issue to which he was coming early on in his own analysis in 1986, the spokeswoman said.

Thanks to Ofer Neiman and James North.

Nigel Farage condemned over Jewish lobby comment

Nigel Farage has been criticised for referring to a powerful Jewish lobby operating in America.

Mr Farage, who was presenting his phone-in show on the LBC network yesterday, took a call from someone identifying himself as Ahmed during a debate on Russian influence in last years US presidential election.

How come theres such an issue with Russia, and no one really highlighting AIPAC and the Israeli lobby and their involvement in American politics and elections, the caller asked.

Mr Farage, referring to the Israeli lobby, responded by saying Ahmed had made a reasonable point.

He added: There are about six million Jewish people living in America, so as a percentage its quite small, but in terms of influence its quite big. They have a voice within American politics, as indeed do the Hindu groups and many other groups in America. But I dont think anybody is suggesting that the Israeli government tried to affect the result of the American elections.

When the caller claimed Israel had Democrats and Republicans in their pockets, Mr Farage, the former leader of UKIP, responded: In terms of money and influence they are a very powerful lobby.

He went on to thank Ahmed from Leyton, who he said makes the point that there are other very powerful lobbies in America, with the Jewish lobby, that has links with the Israeli government, is one of those strong voices.

Social media users condemned Mr Farages comments.

Nigel Farage spewing anti-Semitic conspiracies over the radio, nobody cares because he’s right-wing, one person tweeted, with another sarcastically saying Nigel Farage slips into antisemitic tropes of Jewish power and wealth. Shocked, I tell you, shocked!

Adam Langleben, a Jewish Labour councillor, posted a link to the excerpt of Mr Farages show, saying the politician had gone full conspiracy.

He tweeted: Person calls in and compares AIPAC to Russian collusion. Farage plays up influence. Interchanges “Israeli” and “Jewish” lobby.

A Board of Deputies spokesperson said: Nigel Farages clumsy use of the terms Israel and Jewish lobby interchangeably and his reference to their power has crossed the line into well-known antisemitic tropes. We would advise him to be more careful in his use of language in future.

Stop The Nonsense! Trump Is Not An Anti-Semite (Neither is Bannon) – The Jewish Press – JewishPress.com (blog)

{Originally posted to the authors website, The Lid}

During the campaign, and again since the Tuesdays press conference about Charlottesville, there have been claims that President Trump is an anti-Semite. All over the MSM there are claims (usually made by Gentiles) that Trump made a moral equivalence between the alt-Right haters, and the alt-left ones. They also claim that Jews supporting Trump are inching away from the POTUS, because hes proven his hatred of the Jewish people. This morning Congressman Nadler (D-NY) submitted a bill that between all the Whereases, he accused the president of siding with the neo-nazis and surroundinghimself with, and cultivated the influence of, senior advisors and spokespeople who have long histories of promoting white nationalist, alt-Right, racist and anti-Semitic principles and policies within the country. Sorry folks but those claims are what we call in the mamma loshen (mother tongue/Yiddish) dreck (which means trash or sh*t, take your pick).

Just as important is the fact that the MSM and Democrats, who are projecting the opinion that President Trump has a problem with the Jews, said nothing when President Obama said or did things which can be interpreted as anti-Semitic, and shy away from giving Obama and other people who deserve such labels like Al Sharpton, Keith Ellison, Linda Sarsour and the leaders of the womens march, their appropriate Anti-Semitic titles. Its almost if someone wandered into an ancient cave and discovered a term they never knew existed, and the term was found in an envelope labeled, do not use unless it damages Donald Trump. Cant you hear anti-Trump newscasters like Shepard Smith exclaiming, Wow, Anti-SemitismWhod have thought it!

I am aJew who is active in Jewish causes and has personally had to fight Antisemitism, especially since I started writing and self-identified as a conservative. Recognizing the dangers of Antisemitism and the growing problems with anti-Jewish bigotry in the world, IMHO one of the worst things someone can do is make false charges of Antisemitism. Not only does it dilutethe effects of real charges of Antisemitism, but it goes against Jewish law dictating how people should talk to each other.

Throughout the campaign Trump faced false charges of Antisemitism:

There was the infamous JewishStar tweet that Trump thought was a sheriffs badge picture. The picture was insensitive because somebody in the campaign should have been smart enough to know it would cause problems. But thebadge was not in the least anti-Semitic (unless of course, one is a liberal). If this Trump picture is anti-Semitic, so is every member of the Sheriffs department in Suffolk County where I live, whose badges are the same shape (and I can assure you they arent).Taos New Mexico and San Francisco sheriffs use the exact same shape to name a few.

There were cases of Antisemitism by some of Trumps alt-right supporters, I faced them as well as others, but not one of those attackswere condoned by the candidate.

Two weeks before the election Peter Drier of the Huffington Post made his false and ridiculous charges of anti-Semitism.Dreier claimed:

Trumps most recent anti-Semitic remarks were in a speech, and a tweet, last week that included this line: Hillary Clinton meets in secret with international banks to plot the destruction of U.S. sovereignty in order to enrich these global financial powers, her special interest friends and her donors. He didnt need to use the word Jew. This imagery of a global banking cabal will be familiar to anyone who has read The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the anti-Semitic forgery that has fueled anti-Jewish violence for over a century. These are well-known anti-Semitic code words. The speech typical of Trumps paranoid conspiracy theories was designed to fire up Trumps white nationalist, anti-Semitic base

PUULEESE! So It was OK when Bernie Sanders campaigned on the basis that Hillary was beholden to the big banks? Guess what? The reason Trump didnt use the word Jew was that he wasnt talking about Jews. Perhaps he was thinking about Occupy Wall Street which used the anti-Semitic imagery that Dreier referred to. That same Occupy Wall Street was supported by President Obama and other prominentDemocrats.

And no one during the campaign mention all the anti-Semites who support Clinton, people like Al Sharpton who led TWO anti-Semitic pogroms in NYC, or the Center for American Progress which was labeled anti-Semitic by the respected Simon Wiesenthal Center.

Some said that when Jews were left off the press release for Holocaust Memorial day, it was a display of Trumps Antisemitism. As I wrote at the time, leaving out Jews was insensitive and ignorant, but it wasnt anti-Semitic.

Putting aside for a moment, that for Trump to be an anti-Semite he would have to hate his daughter Ivanka who is a Shabbos-observant Jew, as is his son-in-law Jared Kushner, and their three children. The presidents son Erics wife, Lara Yunaskav, is Jewish according to Jewish law (because her mom is Jewish), and when the child, she is carrying is born, it will be considered Jewish also.

Trump has been very generous in donating to Jewish Organizations, and thats how he earned the honor of being grand marshal of the Israel Day parade. In Jewish charities, typically the highest honors go to the biggest donors.

Trump counts Jews among his circle of friends, including Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu (something that was very obvious when he visited Israel in May) and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

Whats really amazing is the fact that the MSM makes-up charges of Antisemitism against President Trump but ignored eight years of very real anti-Semitic acts by his predecessor, Barack Obama.

Beginning with his first campaign for president, Obama surrounded himself with anti-Semites like General Merrel McPeak, 2008 Obama for President Co-Chair who had an impressive resume of blaming our foreign policy on the Jewish Lobby. Perhaps the best example of McPeaks anti-Semitism was when he was asked during an interview why there isnt peace in the Middle East and he said, New York City. Miami. We have a large vote vote, here in favor of Israel. And no politician wants to run against it. (in other words, those pesky Jews, who control Americas policy on the Middle East).

One of his first presidential appointments was the anti-Semitic Chas Freeman who blamed his resignation on the evil Israel lobby (a nicer way of saying Jewish lobby). Actually, Chas, it was a lot less than an evil Israel lobby, much of it was the work of a few Jewish bloggers one of whom was named The Lid.

Obamas first presidential Medal of Freedom honorees were both Jew-haters, Bishop Desmond Tutu and Mary Robinson. The nicest thing Bishop Desmond Tutu ever said about Jews was People are scared in this country [the US], to say wrong is wrong because the Jewish lobby is powerful. He also once said, that the Jews thought they had a monopoly on God.

Tutus co-honoree Mary Robinson presided over the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance that turned into a non-stop hate-fest against Jews and Israel. The conference was so anti-Semitic that Colin Powell, the Secretary of State at the time, walked out.

During his presidency, Obama has allied himself with Al Sharpton who started the anti-Semitic pogrom in Crown Heights and incited the anti-Semitic fire bombing of Freddys Fashion Mart in Harlem. He sent his closest adviser, Valerie Jarrett, to keynote an anti-Semitic ISNA conference whose discussions included: how key Obama aides are Israeli, proving Jews have control of the world, or how the Holocaust is a punishment of Jews for being serially disobedient to Allah.

Remember Occupy Wall Street? They talked about how Jewish bankers were destroying the world. Of the anti-Semitic Occupy Wall Street movement the President said, We are on their side.

RadicalIslamists attacked theKosher supermarket Hyper-Cacher (French for Super Kosher) in Paris on a Friday afternoon. The attack happened just before the Jewish Sabbath when they knew it would be crowded with Jews. Obama first insisted it was a random act and not an anti-Semitic act. And when the world leaders came together to march in Paris as a protest against the Charlie Hebdo shooting and the anti-Semitic Hyper-Cacher attack Obama was conspicuous in his absence.

President Obamas July 31, 2015, phone call, organized by the anti-Israel group J Street and other progressive Jewish groups, also exposed Obamas feeling about Jews.

During the 20-minute phone call Obama said over and over that opponent of the Iran deal come from the same array of forces that got us into the Iraq war, he said a bunch of billionaires who happily finance super PACs are putting the squeeze on members of Congress.

The message was clear to the Jewish participants, William Daroff Senior Vice President for Public Policy andDirector of the Washington office of The Jewish Federations of North America tweeted during the meeting Jews are leading effort to kill #Irandeal. Same people opposing the deal led us into Iraq war, and followed with Canard: Jews got us into Iraq War. During the call, Lee Rosenberg of AIPAC questioned the Presidents statement comparing people who object to the Iran deal with those who supported the invasion of Iraq. He pointed out that many anti-Semites falsely claim the Jews pushed Bush into invading Iraq. Obama explained that Netanyahu supported the Iraq invasion (true). But Bibi wasnt the premier at the time he was a private citizen.

The prime minister, Ariel Sharon, strongly urged Bush not to invade Iraq, arguing correctly that if Saddam were removed, Iran, a far more dangerous player, will be rid of its principal enemy and free to pursue its ambitions of regional hegemony.

Of course, that didnt matter to President Obama, he needed to find a Jewish scapegoat so he used private-citizen Netanyahu who was strongly for the war. Also for the war was his V.P. Joe Biden, both of his secretaries of state Kerry and Clinton, and his biggest ally in the Senate, Minority Leader Harry Reid, all of whom voted for the invasion of Iraq in Congress.

During his last month as president, ObamasState Department condemned Israel for allowing peopleto build houses on land on the western side of the Jordan River. The land was legally purchased in 2009 by Dr. Irving andCherna Moskowitz from a US Presbyterian Church. There were no complaints when the Presbyterian Church owned it. Team Obama wasnt objecting to the fact that houses were being built on that land.If the homes were intended for Christian or Muslimfamilies there would have been no issue. As it is was with so many other cases during the Obama administration, the objection was based on the fact that Jews were going to live in those buildings.

NOT ONCE! Not once in all those (and other) cases where Obama and his team seemed to step over the line into anti-Semitism territory were there questions from the media asking Obama if he had an issue with Jews. Not once did any of the mainstream media point out Obamas possible anti-Semitism (and thereare many more examples not pointed out here).

The media was all over that Trump issued picture of Hillary with Sheriffs badges, but they were awfully quiet when she said Orthodox Jews were like the religious fanatics in Iran because the IDF allowed Orthodox Soldiers to leave a concert when women were singing. They were all over every unsubstantiated claim of a Trump bias, but ignored the report that came out during the 2016 campaign that when Bubbalost the 1974 election for the US House of Representatives from Arkansas, she turned to her then boyfriends campaign manager Paul Fray and called him af**king Jew b*stard.Frey not only reported the incident but took a lie detector test to prove he wasnt lying. Even if they didnt want to report the incident as reported by the Guardian, why didnt they try to investigate the story to see if it was true? It would have been huge. But of course, it wouldnt have hurt Trump.

In his bookAmerican Evitaon page 50, Christopher Anderson writes relates a1973anti-Semitic incident where Hillary Clinton refused to enter a home because it had a menorah on its door. Understand, the guy didnt have an Israeli flag on his door buta symbol of his Jewishness. It was okay to look into Trumps background and get second-hand reports about bigotrybut they would never investigate Hillary.

When the media talks about Al Sharpton they call him a civil rights leader, rather than an anti-Semitic bigot. They never mentioned that the leaders of the Day Without Woman were anti-Semites. They didnt care about anti-Semitism.

But because he pointed out that there were bad people on both sides of the Charlottesville violence, Donald Trump, a man with Jewish grandchildren, Jewish friends, and a man who is a huge (or yuge) donor to Jewish causes is accused of Antisemitism despite the fact that he has never done anything anti-Semitic.

Just more proof of the bias of mainstream media. They dont give a rats arse about anti-Semitismeven violent attacks on Jews are ignored. To the MSM Jewish blood is cheap and threats against Jews do not matterunless of course, they can help their fake narrative that President and his administration are bigots.

The Jewish State Terror Attack on Jewish Workers’ Rights in Israel – New Democrats (press release) (blog)

News : Israeli High Court signals end of right to strike at state-owned enterprises

The High Court of Justice in Israel has issued a preliminary ruling that workers at state-owned enterprisescan no longer strike against market reforms being undertaken by the government. Accepting the governments argument that strikes against government policy are politically motivated and thus illegal under their law, the high court has overturned its earlier order upholding the right to strike. This order allows the government to privatise the electricity sector while endangering the immediate employment of 12500 workers. If confirmed, it will also severely curtail the rights of Israeli workers.

The Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) employs 12,500 workers. For the past three years, the government has instituted a so-called market reform programme to end the state monopoly on electricity generation.

The privatization plan means the company will stop generating electricity and sell its power stations to the private sector. The so-called reforms have already cost 800 jobs. The Histadrut expects the privatization to result in between 5,000 and 6,000 job losses. Workers at IEC took part in industrial action in June and July, including refusing to issue electric bills.

In May 2017, the High Court upheld early judgements by regional and national labour courts in support of the right to strike. However, the government appealed the ruling, claiming that because the strikers oppose government policy, the strike is political and therefore illegal under Israeli labour law. The government was supported by private electric corporations, who argued that strikes should not be allowed to influence, harm or cause financial loss.

IndustriALL Global Union is very concerned about the possibility of imposing serious restrictions on the right to strike. We believe such an outcome would be against the International Covenant on Economic, Social and cultural Rights, as well as against ILOs Convention 87 concerning freedom of association and protection of the right to organize, and ILOs Convention 98 concerning the application of the principles of the right to organize and to bargain collectively.

Views :

The Israel state and Jewish lobby in US portray Palestine as the enemy of Jewish people. This ruling shows who the real enemies are all the working people. The government of Israel, like governments all over the world, serves the interests of financial elite who want that strikes should not be allowed to influence, harm or cause financial loss. The workers democratic rights take a back seat.

Path charted by natural allies India and Israel is a lesson in diplomacy – The Sunday Guardian

Why then did it take the long period between 1948, when Israel became independent, and 1992, when diplomatic relations were established between the two countries? The tortuous history of how the two natural allies groped for a way out, stopped short of moving ahead, and then advanced once again, should be an interesting lesson in the history of diplomacy.

Even more surprising is the fact that even though there was no diplomatic relationship, a very vital military relationship had been built up since 1962. Israeli archives recently revealed that Indias first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, highly perturbed over the Great Chinese Betrayal in October 1962, sent a cable to his Israeli counterpart, Ben Gurion, on 27 October. The reply came on 2 November, reading, All our efforts have been and are directed to the preservation of peacein our area and throughout the world. Jerusalem, the name of our capital in Hebrew, means the city of peace. I am in total agreement with the views expressed by your Excellency that it is incumbent upon us to do all in our power.

So far, so good. Then intervened Indias pro-Arab policy and Nehru was reduced to making a ridiculous rider, that arms must be shipped without the Israeli flag. Ben Gurion put his foot down, saying, No flag. No weapons. Nehru bowed down, and the military ties began. Today, the relations have reached huge proportions, with India entering into defence deals worth over $2 billion this year.

As a matter of fact, Nehru even briefly considered inviting Israel to the Bandung conference in 1955, but scotched the idea when the pro-Arab policy loomed large on his horizon. The public visibility of the ties has been conditioned to what party holds power in New Delhi, says Indian-American scholar Jayita Sarkar.

Each time since India had faced war, 1965, 1971 and 1999, Israel has stood by sending vitally needed weapons and intelligence systems, filling up dangerous gaps in the formers defence capabilities. It even lobbied, along with India, with the United States during the Kargil war in order to meet Indias needs. It is fairly certain that without the timely Israeli support in providing weapons, intelligence systems and intelligence, the war would have been prolonged, perhaps forcing India to cross the border, which Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was determined not to.

It is in this backdrop that we recall the signal contribution made by Prof M.L. Sondhi towards bringing the two natural but sequestrated allies together over a long periodto be precise, between 1965 and 1992. Perhaps the best summation of Sondhis contribution in this regard was made by an Israeli diplomat, Dr Moshe Yegar, on 2 February 1992.

He said, The long and, sometimes, the painful process of normalising diplomatic relations between India and Israel, which went on for some four decades, has finally reached its satisfying and, even in this new process, happy conclusion. No one was more devoted to it than you, with your never diminishing belief, optimism and tenacious efforts. You have secured your place of honour in this most exciting chapter of the history of modern diplomacy. I join all your friends in Israel in saluting you and in expressing our deep sense of appreciation and gratitude. A new chapter in the relations between our two countries and our two peoples begin now. We have to give sufficient meaning to these relations and fill them with contents. There is no doubt in my mind that you will be among those who will occupy a prominent place.

Nehru was highly perturbed over the Great Chinese Betrayal in October 1962 and sought help from his Israeli counterpart Ben Gurion. But then intervened Indias pro-Arab policy and Nehru was reduced to making a ridiculous rider, that arms must be shipped without the Israeli flag.

Writing in Patriot (30 September 1988) Sondhi re-examined India-Israel relations in the following manner: The lack of understanding between New Delhi and Tel Aviv and the Arab pressure on India not to establish full-scale diplomatic relations has been a recurrent theme in commentaries on India-Israel relations. A great paradox of Indian foreign policy is that, without ambassador-level diplomatic relations with Israel, we have little leverage to secure real and tangible benefits for our Arab friends and in particular for the Palestinians. The time may not be distant when the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organisation) may play its Israel card and find a way out of the prolonged political crisis by evolving a broad strategic concept, which is appropriate to the new correlation of forces in West Asia. He was effectively arguing that even if India wanted to help its Arab friends, the best course would be to establish full diplomatic relations with Israel and that it was doing the exact opposite by refusing to do so on the pretext of Arab opposition.

The false starts to bilateral relations continued after 1955. The very next year the Israeli Foreign Minister (later Prime Minister) Moshe Sharett was visiting New Delhi, when the combined Anglo-French-Israeli attack on the Suez Canal began; his scheduled talk at the Indian Council of World Affairs was peremptorily stalled, and an angry Nehru cancelled his appointment with the visiting dignitary.

Prof Sondhi, whose interest in Israel grew in a slow process, first visited the country in 1964. His most memorable meeting during this brief stay was with David Ben Gurion. While Ben Gurion penned a lengthy entry in his diary about Sondhi, journalist Khushwant Singh, who visited the Ben Gurions a little later, recalled Paula Ben Gurion reminiscing about the Indian, So handsome and so clever. I hope he is Prime Minister of India one day, she chortled in her Brooklyn Yiddish accent.

Sondhi again met Ben Gurion by accident when the India-Pakistan war of 1965 was on and his plane was diverted to Tel Aviv. Ben Gurion advised him to meet Moshe Dayan. While the latter stunned Sondhi by suggesting that India should open a second front by attacking East Pakistan, he snorted at the Indians reference to the usual refrain of normalisation of bilateral relations, commenting that it was pointless to wait indefinitely for that to happen, and instead Israel would be ready to ship munitions and military hardware in crate marked pharmaceuticals to be landed on the western coast of India. The message was conveyed to Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastris principal private secretary, Lalit Sen. The Israeli supplies, thereafter, began to come.

Sondhi also played a major role in a crisis that erupted six months after the two countries had begun to take swift steps to normalise relationsthe kidnapping of five Israeli tourists vacationing in a houseboat on the Dal Lake, Srinagar, in June 1991. Sondhi helped the Israeli diplomat Yegar, then negotiating with the Indian government for the rescue of the hostages, to meet R.N. Kao, the former head of the Research and Analytical Wing. Thereafter, a meeting with Cabinet Secretary Naresh Chandra was set up, again through Sondhis efforts. Chandra eventually suggested that Israel help India secure billions of dollars from the World Bank and the Export-Import Bank to tide over a very serious foreign exchange crisis facing India at the time. He pointed out that the Jewish lobby in the United States was resisting the Indian approach because of its anti-Israel policy.

On 10 January 1992, Sondhi urged Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao to immediately establish full diplomatic relations with Israel. In the same month, this happened, the process having been set in motion for many months and now, propelled by the smooth passage of the aid from the World Bank and the Export-Import Bank.

Nearly three years later, Sondhi was honoured as a pioneer of India-Israel friendship with a special award at a public ceremony held at the Siri Fort auditorium in south Delhi in September 1995. Ambassador Epfraim Dowek said he believed that it was high time to pay back an old debt of gratitude to Sondhi and a few others for their role in laying the foundations of the thriving bilateral relationship.

Chairman Of Largest Islamic Charity In US Exposed As Jew-Hating Extremist With Ties To Muslim Brotherhood – Western Journalism

“…promotes jihad against Israel…”By Yochanan Visser on August 18, 2017 at 9:02am

Khaled Lamada, chairman of Islamic Relief (IR), the largest Islamic charity in the United States, is reportedly an Islamist with strong sympathies for and ties to the Muslim Brotherhood (MB).

Lamada also appears to be a Jew-hater who propogates violence against Israel, as reported by Sam Westrop, the director of Islamist Watch, a project of the Middle East Forum.

Islamic Relief has been designated a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates, but receives generous financial support from Western countries, including the United States government, which donated $370,000 to the group in 2016.

The Islamic-American charity uses part of its donor money to subsidize the activities of Islamist groups such as Hamas and other Islamist groups in Gaza, according to Westrop.

The Egytian-born Lamada has a long history of involvement in Muslim Brotherhood activities, and publicly expresses his support for Islamist ideology and causes.

His Facebook page is rife with MB insignia, and when he writes in Arabic or shares Arabic posts of others, he shows off his hatred for Jews and promotes jihad against Israel.

Lamada also indulges in the many anti-Semitic conspiracies, which are very popular on Egyptian social media.

The IR chairman distributed video clips which claim Egyptian president Abdel Fateh el-Sisi is secretly Jewish and that his crackdown on the MB was ordered by Jews.

One of the video clips that Lamada circulated on Facebook claimed that Jews are dividing the Muslim community in Egypt by promoting sexual activities.

The IR leader also disseminated claims that the U.S. is controlled by a Jewish lobby which demonizes Muslims and is plotting to invade Sudan and the Nile delta in Egypt, according to Westrop.

Other senior IR officials, such as Youssef Abdallah, were exposed by Islamist Watch as promoters of jihad against Israel.

Abdallah romanticized martyrs who killed scores of Jews and fired missiles at Tel Aviv in Israel. In other posts Abdallah referred to Jews as stinking and said they were trying to burn down the al-Aksa mosque at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

The IR official also liked an anti-Semitic comment under one of his Facebook posts calling for the revenge on the damned rapist Zionists and praying to Allah for the destruction of the Jewish people.

Islamic Relief leaders were previouslyinvited to the White House by former president Barack Obama, who hosted them during the holy Muslim month Ramadan.

During one of his encounters at the White House with Islamic Relief and other leaders of the Muslim community in the U.S., Obama warned his fellow Americans there is a distorted impression of Muslims.

Here in America, many people personally dont know someone who is Muslim, Obama said. They mostly hear about Muslims in the news and that can obviously lead to a very distorted impression.

On its website, Islamic Relief claims it has been working for a better world for the past 25 years and that its actions including tackling poverty, are marked by excellence in our operations and conduct, which are deserving of the people we serve.

Westrop, meanwhile, continues toexposeAmerican Muslims with radical views.

The Islamist Watch director posted a video on his Twitter account showing Karim Abuzaid, a Colorado based imam, who, during a recent sermon, advocated for the flogging of fornicators and the stoning of adulterers.

The Colorado imam said that flogging and stoning should be done in public.

First of all you need to learn that laws here in the Western world were applied in public, Abuzaid said, while reminding the audience of the fact that executions in Europe and other countries were done in public until the Middle Ages.

He then explained that public execution by stoning of an adulterer, as well as the flagging of a fornicator, has a deterrent effect, especially for the younger generation. As a result, he also encouraged parents to bring their children to these executions.

A married adulterer is liable for a death by stoning, Abuzaid said, while adding that according to Sharia law, you are a dead man walking if you commit such a sin.

PML-N gets out of slumber in Hazara – The News International

ABBOTTABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) seems to be coming out of slumber in Hazara division after the fateful decision of July 28 of Supreme Court of Pakistan in which its leader and prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, was disqualified.

Not a single protest procession worth mentioning against this decision was witnessed in the region which is considered a stronghold of the PML-N.

Murtaza Javed Abbasi, deputy speaker of the National Assembly, was appointed provincial secretary general of the party (against the wishes of Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan). He failed to muster support of the PML-N workers or to energise them to rally behind Nawaz Sharif by coming out on the streets in large number.

Young PML-N Member National Assembly from Haripurs NA-19, Babar Nawaz Khan, took the initiative to mobilise the party workers and voters by holding a PML-N Youth Wing Convention in his native Khalabat Town in Haripur district on the Independence Day. He invited Capt (Retd) Muhammad Safdar, the son-in-law of disqualified premier, to address the convention as a chief guest.

Raja Faisal Zaman, PML-N MPA from PK-49 and Qazi Muhammad Asad, a former minister and a new entrant to PML-N fold, attended the convention.

Muhammad Safdar heads the PML-N Youth Wing at the central level. Conspicuous by their absence were Amir Muqam, and Murtaza Javed Abbasi, president and general secretary of the PML-N, KP, respectively.

Despising Imran Khan and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and dubbing them as agents of the Jewish lobby, Safdar, in his speech, eulogised Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and his sacrifice for the democracy and declared publicly, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is the real martyr and I see him at the high pedestals in Jannah.

Capt Safdar sounded more like a sufi historian to the media corps and his large audience than a politician to whom a very big crowd came and wanted to hear something against his father-in-laws arch rival Imran Khan.

Except on a couple of occasions when he blasted Imran Khans rallies by dubbing them as immoral activities Safdar disappointed this huge crowd by narrating the sacrifices of his own forefathers in which everyone seemed least interested.

He tried his best to make a good case against the unseen forces which did not treat well prime ministers from Liquat Ali Khan to Nawaz Sharif. But at the same time he forgot to mention the one who helped depose Benazir Bhutto or Yousaf Raza Gilani in the recent past.

Khalabat Township show of people power was indeed an encouraging factor but it also sent vibes that it was basically show of power of a clan of Khalabat Babar Nawaz, his uncle MPA Gohar Nawaz and his cousin Samiullah Khan who is tehsil naib nazim.

Capt Safdars advisors could be well advised to suggest to him that if and when he faces such a good crowd to address, he must feel the pulse of the crowd and engage it with his good oratory instincts not by taking them to pre-partition sacrifices of his own elders but to stick with contemporary political narrative that is to hit your political opponents where it hurts the most.

Swedish state TV: ‘Strong Jewish lobby’ behind Trump …

Flag of Sweden. (photo credit: REUTERS) Swedens main public broadcaster apologized for an article that tied President Donald Trumps recognition of Jerusalem as Israels capital to the strength of the Jewish Lobby. Share on facebook

Prince Charles decried White House refusal to take on …

Thirty years ago, Prince Charles said that U.S. support for Israel is a cause of terrorism and that the Jewish lobby tied an American presidents ability to address the issue. He wrote in a 1986 letter: I now begin to understand better their [Arabs] point of view about Israel. (published by The Mail on Sunday) The Mail says that Prince Charles has very good relations with the Jewish community but is widely thought to hold unorthodox views of the Middle East. The Mail quotes a spokesperson for the royal family explaining the letter: He was sharing the arguments in private correspondence with a long-standing friend in an attempt to improve his understanding of what he has always recognized is a deeply complex issue to which he was coming early on in his own analysis in 1986, the spokeswoman said.

Photo Credit: courtesy {Originally posted to the authors website, The Lid} During the campaign, and again since the Tuesdays press conference about Charlottesville, there have been claims that President Trump is an anti-Semite. Throughout the campaign Trump faced false charges of Antisemitism: There was the infamous JewishStar tweet that Trump thought was a sheriffs badge picture. Two weeks before the election Peter Drier of the Huffington Post made his false and ridiculous charges of anti-Semitism.Dreier claimed: Trumps most recent anti-Semitic remarks were in a speech, and a tweet, last week that included this line: Hillary Clinton meets in secret with international banks to plot the destruction of U.S. sovereignty in order to enrich these global financial powers, her special interest friends and her donors. He didnt need to use the word Jew. This imagery of a global banking cabal will be familiar to anyone who has read The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the anti-Semitic forgery that has fueled anti-Jewish violence for over a century. These are well-known anti-Semitic code words. The speech typical of Trumps paranoid conspiracy theories was designed to fire up Trumps white nationalist, anti-Semitic base PUULEESE!

News : Israeli High Court signals end of right to strike at state-owned enterprises The High Court of Justice in Israel has issued a preliminary ruling that workers at state-owned enterprisescan no longer strike against market reforms being undertaken by the government. Views : The Israel state and Jewish lobby in US portray Palestine as the enemy of Jewish people. This ruling shows who the real enemies are all the working people. The government of Israel, like governments all over the world, serves the interests of financial elite who want that strikes should not be allowed to influence, harm or cause financial loss. The workers democratic rights take a back seat. Like Loading…

“…promotes jihad against Israel…”By Yochanan Visser on August 18, 2017 at 9:02am Advertisement – story continues below Khaled Lamada, chairman of Islamic Relief (IR), the largest Islamic charity in the United States, is reportedly an Islamist with strong sympathies for and ties to the Muslim Brotherhood (MB). Advertisement – story continues below The Islamic-American charity uses part of its donor money to subsidize the activities of Islamist groups such as Hamas and other Islamist groups in Gaza, according to Westrop. Advertisement – story continues below Lamada also indulges in the many anti-Semitic conspiracies, which are very popular on Egyptian social media. Advertisement – story continues below Other senior IR officials, such as Youssef Abdallah, were exposed by Islamist Watch as promoters of jihad against Israel. What do you think?
