Condo owner told to remove Jewish mezuzah

Jewish Home Movies Provide Backdrop for Skirball Exhibit 2012-03-29 ‘Jewish Homegrown History: Immigration, Identity and Intermarriage’ opens on March 29 at the Skirball Cultural Center on Mulholland near the 405 freeway. Using old home movies, the exhibit invites viewers to watch vivid moments from the lives of ordinary families that illustrate the personal experiences of California Jews. Among the stories are the Chaikins of Boyle Heights, whose children grew up alongside Latino and Japanese neighbors; Harriet and Fred Rochlin, a writer and an architect who met at Berkeley and collaborated on an illustrated history of pioneer Jews of the West; and Murrieta Hot Springs, which depicts how this distinctly Californian resort differed from better-known Catskills vacation resorts in the East.

Jewish groups work to feed needy

Coordinators at Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Southern Arizona want to make sure that gefilte fish, grape juice, macaroons and horseradish are on the menu for families in the Tucson area this Passover. The group has been collecting those items, as well as produce, walnuts, matza and matza ball soup mix, as part of its Matza and More Project. Under the 'fair use' rule of copyright law, an author may make limited use of another author's work without asking permission. Fair use is based on the belief that the public is entitled to freely use portions of copyrighted materials for purposes of commentary and criticism. The fair use privilege is perhaps the most significant limitation on a copyright owner's exclusive rights.

Fair use as described at 17 U.S.C. Section 107:
