Reptilians – Wikipedia

This article is about reptilian humanoids in fiction and conspiracy theories. For other uses, see Reptilian.

Reptilians (also called reptoids,[1] lizard people,[2] reptiloids, saurians, Draconians)[3][4][5] are purported reptilian humanoids that play a prominent role in fantasy, science fiction, ufology, and conspiracy theories.[6][7] The idea of reptilians was popularised by David Icke, a conspiracy theorist who claims shape-shifting reptilian aliens control Earth by taking on human form and gaining political power to manipulate human societies. Icke has claimed on multiple occasions that many of the world leaders are, or are possessed by, so-called reptilians.

Contents

Michael Barkun, professor of political science at Syracuse University, posits that the idea of a reptilian conspiracy originated in the fiction of Conan the Barbarian creator Robert E. Howard. The first appearance of “serpent men” in literature was in Howard’s story, “The Shadow Kingdom”, published in Weird Tales in August 1929. This story drew on theosophical ideas of the “lost worlds” of Atlantis and Lemuria, particularly Helena Blavatsky’s The Secret Doctrine, with its reference to “‘dragon-men’ who once had a mighty civilization on a Lemurian continent”.[8]

Howard’s “serpent men” were described as humanoid with human bodies but snake heads, able to imitate real humans at will, who lived in hiding in underground passages, using their shapechanging and mind control abilities to infiltrate humanity.[9] Clark Ashton Smith used Howard’s “serpent men” in his stories, as well as themes from H. P. Lovecraft, and he, Howard and Lovecraft together laid the basis for the Cthulhu Mythos.[10]

In the 1940s, a non-fiction writer, Maurice Doreal, wrote a pamphlet entitled “Mysteries of the Gobi” which described a “serpent race” that had “bodies like man but…heads…like a great snake” and an ability to take true human form.[11] These creatures also appeared in Doreal’s poem, “The Emerald Tablets”, in which he claimed the titular tablets were written by “Thoth, an Atlantean Priest king”. Barkun asserts that “in all likelihood”, Doreal’s ideas came from “The Shadow Kingdom”, and that in turn, “The Emerald Tablets” formed the basis for David Icke’s book, Children of the Matrix.[12]

Alien abduction narratives sometimes allege contact with reptilian creatures.[13] One of the earliest reports was that of Ashland, Nebraska police officer Herbert Schirmer (born 1945), who claims to have been taken aboard a UFO in 1967 by humanoid beings with a slightly reptilian appearance, who wore a “winged serpent” emblem on the left side of their chests.[14] Skeptics consider his claims to be a hoax.[15]

According to British conspiracy theorist David Icke, tall, blood-drinking, shape-shifting reptilian humanoids from the Alpha Draconis star system, now hiding in underground bases, are the force behind a worldwide conspiracy against humanity.[16] He contends that most of the world’s ancient and modern leaders are related to these reptilians, including the Merovingian dynasty, the Rothschilds, the Bush family and the British Royal family.[17] Icke’s conspiracy theories now have supporters in up to 47 countries and he has given lectures to crowds of up to 6,000.[18][19] American writer Vicki Santillano included it in her list of the 10 most popular conspiracy theories, describing it as the “wackiest theory” she had encountered.[20]

A poll of Americans in 2013 by Public Policy Polling indicated that 4% of registered voters (2.8%) believed in David Icke’s ideas.[21]

In the closely fought 2008 U.S. Senate election between comedian and commentator Al Franken and incumbent Senator Norm Coleman, one of the ballots challenged by Coleman included a vote for Franken with “Lizard People” written in the space provided for write-in candidates.[22] Lucas Davenport, who later claimed to have written the gag ballot, said, “I don’t know if you’ve heard the conspiracy theory about the Lizard Men; a friend of mine, we didn’t like the candidates, so we were at first going to write in ‘revolution’, because we thought that was good and to the point. And then, we thought ‘the Lizard People’ would be even funnier.”[23]

“Evil reptilian kitten-eater from another planet” was a pejorative used to refer to then Ontario Liberal Party opposition leader Dalton McGuinty in a press release disseminated by the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario on September 12, 2003, during the provincial election campaign in Ontario, Canada.

In February 2011, on the Opie and Anthony radio show, the comedian Louis C.K. jokingly asked former U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld a number of times if he and Dick Cheney were lizard people who enjoyed the taste of human flesh. Amused by Rumsfeld’s refusal to directly answer the question, C.K. suggested it as a possible admission of guilt. He went on to further muse that perhaps those who are lizard people cannot lie about it; when asked if they are lizards, they either have to avoid answering the question or say yes.[24]

On March 4, 2013, a video depicting a security agent with unusual features guarding a speech by U.S. President Barack Obama was spotlighted in a Wired report about shapeshifting reptilian humanoids, leading to a tongue-in-cheek response from chief National Security Council spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden that “any alleged program to guard the president with aliens or robots would likely have to be scaled back or eliminated in the sequester”.[25]

‘Three years to save mankind’, says David Icke 25 years after …

The former footballer had been a household name as a co-presenter of the BBC’s flagship Saturday marathon sports programme Grandstand, who went on to become a spokesman for the Green Party.

Although Mr Icke disappeared from mainstream media after the initial shocking story died, he went on to become something of an “awakening guru” on the conspiracy theory circuit and within alternative media.

Icke has written countless books and toured the globe lecturing on his odd theories, making the bizarre his business over the past quarter of a century.

The former BBC Grandstand presenter, who has a massive online following, is about to embark on another world tour during which he will warned that unless more people “awake” from the fog we live under, a sinister elite of psychopaths will have total control of mankind through computer AI technology by 2018 at the latest.

Icke famously said in around 2000 that the world was ruled by a sinister group of shape-shifting reptilian beings who took the form of prominent humans.

Since then, he has pedalled endless conspiracy theories about 911 being an inside job, and about corruption within the banking system.

Now he predicts if billions of people don’t “wake up” like he and fellow conspiracists have, we could be trapped in a “very real version of the Matrix” like that in the move franchise of the same name starring Keanu Reeves.

“But you cannot trust your five senses, they just show us the programme.

“AI is running everything. They say you have got to be connected through the cloud to AI, but no one is asking ‘what is this AI?’

“My opinion after looking at it for several years is that this world is ultimately controlled by a self-aware equivalent of a computer virus

“We are living in a world driven by fear, when you look at the extremes of the virus we have name for it – psychopathic behaviour with no empathy and no fail-safe mechanism to stop any scale of extreme behaviour.

“This virus, when it overwhelms someone, they become psychopaths, and if you look at the story of some certain bloodlines they have been genetically engineered to run the world for the virus.”

But fear not, as Icke says the evil system can be beaten.

All we need to do is wake up to the theory, see through the lies and transcend to a higher vibration of energy, so the evil virus can no longer affect you.

If that does not put your mind at rest, you can take heart at the fact that in 1991, he predicted huge earthquakes would destroy the Earth in 1997.

David Icke Defeat, Conspiracy Author Made To Pay 50,000 For Lies

Hes not the messiah, hes a very naughty boy were the words Richard Warman, a Canadian human rights lawyer, quoted after being paid 117,000 in compensation for vicious lies published by conspiracy author David Icke in his 2001 book Children of the Matrix.

In an embarrassing defeat David Icke quietly settled out of court for indefensible statementshe had written about Warman, which included false allegations thatWarman was seeking to suppress Ickes purported exposure of Satanic child abuse and murder.

David Icke is not shy of making allegations, often vicious andvitriolicin nature, about people on his website DavidIcke.com.However, it is noted that Icke hasnt mentioned this recent defeat anywhere, despite having previously widely publicise it to his readers and appeal to themfor monetary donations for alegal defence fund.

Richardwarman.ca reports:

In 1999-2000, Warman had worked with various Jewish and anti-racism groups to notify public venues in Canada of discriminatory elements within Ickes mishmash of conspiracy theories. After being provided with material from Ickes own writings, a number of these venues withdrew permission for Icke to use their facilities in his tours.

In retaliation, Icke included false allegations in his 2001 book Children of the Matrix that Warman was seeking to suppress Ickes purported exposure of Satanic child abuse and murder.

David Icke made an out-of-court settlement on January 8th paying $90,000 CDN (50,000 GBP) on the eve of a long-delayed trial that was scheduled to begin in Toronto on February 2nd, 2015. The Court order formally discontinuing the claim was issued on 4 March 2015 thus paving the way for this announcement. Insurers for three Canadian bookstores that had refused to stop selling the book after being served with libel notices had previously settled out for $120,000 CDN (67,000 GBP). Information obtained from litigation by Icke against his former US business partner demonstrated that at least 55,000 copies of Children of the Matrix had been sold worldwide.

The settlement includes the requirement that Icke immediately cease any further distribution of Children of the Matrix and remove the defamatory material from any future editions. Warman thanked his lawyers Christine Lonsdale and Elder Marques of law firm McCarthy Ttrault They were absolute professionals and I couldnt have done it without them.

Warman said This settlement exposes Ickes argument that no one had ever sued him because his allegations were true as nothing more than a fallacy. He added, My reputation has been entirely vindicated. David Ickes attacks against me were disgraceful and beyond the pale but hes paid a heavy price for them and I trust this will never happen again.

Warman closed quoting Monty Python, Hes not the Messiah, hes a very naughty boy.

They say you have got to be connected through the cloud to AI, but no one is asking ‘what is this AI?’ “My opinion after looking at it for several years is that this world is ultimately controlled by a self-aware equivalent of a computer virus “We are living in a world driven by fear, when you look at the extremes of the virus we have name for it – psychopathic behaviour with no empathy and no fail-safe mechanism to stop any scale of extreme behaviour. “This virus, when it overwhelms someone, they become psychopaths, and if you look at the story of some certain bloodlines they have been genetically engineered to run the world for the virus.” But fear not, as Icke says the evil system can be beaten.

Richardwarman.ca reports: In 1999-2000, Warman had worked with various Jewish and anti-racism groups to notify public venues in Canada of discriminatory elements within Ickes mishmash of conspiracy theories. This article was originally published in 2015 and is frequently updated

Fair Use Disclaimer

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Under the 'fair use' rule of copyright law, an author may make limited use of another author's work without asking permission. Fair use is based on the belief that the public is entitled to freely use portions of copyrighted materials for purposes of commentary and criticism. The fair use privilege is perhaps the most significant limitation on a copyright owner's exclusive rights.

Fair use as described at 17 U.S.C. Section 107:

"Notwithstanding the provisions of section 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phono-records or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright.

In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include:

  • (1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for or nonprofit educational purposes,
  • (2) the nature of the copyrighted work,
  • (3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole, and
  • (4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work."
